Overview

The University of Prince Edward Island (also known as UPEI) is a public university built on 140 acres of land in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Nestled in the capital city of Prince Edward Province and the birth place of Canada, the university’s root can be traced back to its two earlier predecessor institutions St. Dunstan's University (SDU) and Prince of Wales College (PWC) in early nineteenth century. SDU and PWC merged together and gave birth to University of Prince Edward Island in 1969.

UPEI is serving as the sole university in Prince Edward Island and one of the leading government funded universities across the country. A leader in experiential learning with a constantly growing reputation for research innovation and academic excellence, the university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs to nearly around 5,000 students, more than one fourth of which are international students.
